Spirit Games 101
What, exactly, is “Spirit Games”?
Spirit Games is one of the most exciting days of the year!!! Teachers, students, administrators and
parents will look forward to this year after year and we’re excited for your students to experience it for the
first time!!!
Spirit Games is an annual, school-wide event where TK-5th grade students come together to compete in
a variety of fun sporting events on campus. The student body is divided into three teams that compete for
a day and a half. It’s a celebration; a chance for all grade levels to come together and work as a team.
Values of leadership, sportsmanship, and honor will be practiced and students will learn to win with
humility and lose with grace.
How are teams chosen?
Viewpoint coaches divide all students (TK-5) into three evenly-sided/balanced teams - so that each of the
three teams has students from every grade level. Teams are then divided by grade level so students from
the same grade levels compete against each other in the various sporting events. Siblings will be on the
same team.
Each team is assigned a special color - which is kept a secret and not revealed until our exciting Opening
Day Ceremonies! At Opening Ceremonies, students receive their Spirit Games T shirts (this shirt is to be
worn at Spirit Games with any bottoms) and come together with their team to learn cheers and officially
kick off Spirit Games with the first sporting events.
Students are welcome to accessorize their outfits for Spirit Games with items in their team color (i.e.
socks, tutus, face paint, wigs, hats, etc.). Please wear school appropriate sneakers to ensure safety.
How can I volunteer for Spirit Games?
This is a very exciting opportunity to be a part of one of the best days of the year! Whether you like sports
or not, Spirit Games is about camaraderie, sportsmanship, working together as a team and overall just a
great time! If you’d like to be a parent volunteer please sign up on the sign up genius on VSSA website
for volunteer opportunities.
Volunteers need to arrive on campus by 7:50am and depart at 12pm. Please no coffee or cell phones as
we’ll need your hands free ;-)
